Firefly Serenity Halloween Costumes

If you call yourself a geek, then you know that Firefly was a great show written by Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, about a crew of spacemen who ran a rebel ship named Serenity (later a movie of the same name was created). If you still haven't watched this excellent television series of the movie that followed it, you should do yourself a favor and rent it or buy it now! But back to the topic on hand, in order to dress up as a Firefly/Serenity character you might need a few key items. 

If you want to dress up as Jayne, it should be simple as long as you can find a replica of the red and yellow hat his mother made him. Next just add a lot of artillery to your costume in the form of plastic guns and bullets. You'll also want to wear some black shoes, a cool t-shirt that may or may not have any Chinese characters on it. If you would rather dress up as Kaylee, it should be simple enough providing you can find some of her clothing. First you should try to find a grey/khaki overall suit, a tie dye shirt and maybe some tools to carry around to prove that you're just as good a mechanic as Kaylee is! Also you will want to make your hair into two cute buns or pigtails.

To dress up as Sheppard Book, look for some grey sombre clothes and try to find a white haired wig. It woud help to have some sort of a white collar around your neck under your grey or dark colored shirt too. Carry a bible with you and wear a white mustache. You might also want to tone your muscles a bit before hand, because the Sheppard was in good shape!

To dress up as Inara, find the best dress you have and make it look even more amazing! Try to find something silky or very lady like. Wear some fancy jewlery. Treat this dress as something more important than prom, because Inara has class and beauty and you need to make sure you convey that in your Inara halloween costume. If your hair isn't black, tie it up and try to spray color it darker. Wear some dark enough red lipstick and make sure to have a love/hate relationship with anyone dressed up as Captain Mal Reynolds.
