You can literally look as scary, as sexy or as funny as you want to look because with your own originalZombie costume, you have control over the outcome of your costume.
First of all, Zombies are a very customary and traditional Halloween costume because of its scariness. People used to dress up as scary things like ghosts, vampires, witches and zombies so that it would scare away the demons and spirits and the REAL evil beings on Halloween. These days, the Halloween tradition has gone away from these spooky origins and people can dress up as angels, and princesses and cheerleaders. But with the zombie costume, you can have the best of both worlds! The idea behind zombies, or the undead, is that you would have been a regular Joe and you would have been attacked by zombies yourself before turning into one. This is why you can dress up as anything you fancy and then zombie-it-up.
First of all, decide on a base outfit: a business suit, a fancy dress, a cheerleader outfit, a farmer, a police officer, a mailman, a nurse? you name it, it will work. Then find some old clothes or pick some up at a thrift store that will match with your idea. The next step will be to add the zombie parts to it. Simply put your outfit on, then decide on some places where a zombie would have grabbed a hold of you, cut you, bit you or otherwise maimed you. Then get some scissors and cut some gashes in your outfit on those places. You could also roll in the dirt on some strategic locations, to simulate the effect of running away from a Zombie, falling down on the ground, getting grabbed by the leg and pulled back, etc. Just think about all the zombie movies you might have seen.
Now the fun make up part begins. Get some red blood makeup and add some blood to the different places where you might have gotten a gash or a cut from a zombie. To make it look more realistic, add many layers and let it drip down on the clothing and on yourself. For your face, you will want to add some dark circles under your eyes using purple make up. Then add some blood in different places where you might have been hit, for example on the side of your lips, down your ear from the top of your head, and so on. Now for the final touches, you can start limping, slouch to one side, keep your head bent on the side and grunt the whole night. Enjoy your new zombie costume, it?s an easy, cheap and simple costume to make at home!
